ICA Counsel Philip Corwin has been elected by the members of ICANN’s Business Constituency to be one of the two Councilors representing it on the GNSO Council. The Council is the policymaking body for all gTLD-related issues. It will review and decide whether to endorse the proposals eventually produced by the two cross community working groups currently focused on the IANA function transition and enhanced ICANN accountability.

Other issues currently working their way through the Council process include:

  • Inter-Registrar Transfer Policy Part D Policy Development Process
  • Privacy & Proxy Services Accreditation Issues Policy Development Process
  • IGO-INGO Access to Curative Rights Protection Mechanisms Policy Development Process
  • Discussion Group: New gTLD Subsequent Procedures
  • GAC-GNSO Consultation Group on GAC Early Engagement in GNSO Policy Development Processes

Corwin was elected to complete the remaining term of BC Councilor Gabriela Szlak of Argentina, who resigned for personal reasons. That term concludes at the end of the final ICANN meeting of 2015 scheduled to take place in Dublin, Ireland in October.
