I am sure that all of you have heard about NSI registering domains that result from their customers searches at NetworkSolutions.com. Even with NSI scaling back the scope of their front running, many domainers are pretty worked up about their practice. I haven’t seen them so worked up since RegisterFly. It is causing some to call for ICANN to take immediate action to stop the practice. If you are not familiar with the issue, Ron Jackson wrote about it here.
I think that NSI is trying to provide better service to their customers. The problem with front running that they are trying to address is real, but should it be solved like this? I would like to know what our members think. How should registrars deal with issues that affect their customer service or security given that it usually takes years to get anything done at ICANN?
